Susan Sarandon Bio
It was after the 1968 Democratic convention, and there was a casting call for a film with several parts for young people who had disrupted convention. Joe (1970), was chosen by Joe (1970) and Joe (1970) both recently graduated Catholic University students. Chris Sarandon was not selected even though he previously studied acting. His wife Susan was given a prominent role as Susan Compton who was the daughter of Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick). In the movie Dad Bill kills Susan's drug dealer partner and then makes friends with Joe (Peter Boyle)-- an outspoken scumbag who works on an assembly line and who is a collector of guns.Five years later, Sarandon made the film where fans of cult classics have come to know her character Janet, who gets entangled with transvestite Dr. Frank n Furter in The The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975). More than 15 years after beginning her career Sarandon was finally active in a campaign to be cast in a memorable role, Annie in Bull Durham (1988), traveling at her own expense from Rome to Los Angeles. "It was an incredible script... It was able to do rid of a lot of legends, and challenged American definitions of success," she stated. "I went to the studio with Kevin Costner, sex some men in the studio and then got back on a plane. The romance she had with Bull Durham (1988)) acting partner, Tim Robbins, had produced two sons by 1992. This placed Sarandon in the position of leaving her domestic paradise to take on roles that challenged her. It was the result four Academy Award nominations in 1990s, and best actress for Dead Man Walking (1995). Louis Malle's Atlantic City (1980) was her first Academy Award nomination.
